A $12 NEMA 14-50 is not rated for four hours of continuous current every night. They overheat. We use industrial-grade, and it’s a small part of the total.
EV charging is a continuous load — code requires the circuit sized at 125% of it. Sizing to the nameplate is a common shortcut and it runs hot.
It skips a fee and creates a liability. It shows up at closing, and it shows up in an insurance claim. We permit every one.

For the electrical work, barely. What matters is the amperage the charger draws and whether it’s hardwired or plug-in. Tell us the model and we’ll size it correctly.
